Learn to Surf at Sal's

Sal’s Surf School is run out of the beautiful Umina Beach on the Central Coast, only one and a half hours north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. Umina Beach is one of the best learn to surf beaches on the east coast!

 

Sal is the owner, operator and head coach of the surf school and has lived in the area her entire life. She knows the beaches and community members very well. Sal is also a full time PE & Health teacher who has personally developed the surf programs. Her in depth knowledge, understanding and experience of pedagogy within the surfing environment is pivotal in the success her clients have in the water.

Sal's Surf School's main aim is to increase lifelong physical activity among locals and to assist clients in developing a sense of belonging within the Umina Beach community. This community centered approach offers everyone the opportunity to learn and succeed in a fun, social and supportive environment.

 

While learning to ride the waves of Umina Beach, Sal’s lessons also aim to educate you about the importance of surf and beach safety, surf etiquette, environmental responsibilities and the value of leading a healthy, active & social lifestyle.

Please check out our popular lessons & programs on offer both for kids & adults that run after school, at weekends & in school holidays. We also have 'Surf Day Trips' & 'Surf Weekend Trips' perfect for those wanting an action packed surfing experience.

 

All surf coaches at Sal's hold their ASI level 1 surfing instructor qualification as well as their Senior First Aid, bronze medallion and working with children certificates.

 

Sal's surf school is an ASI (Academy of Surfing Instructors) accredited school which abides by the high international standards for operations, training and safety. ASI accredited schools set the world standard in surf education.
